B I O

Michael Finke is a New York based musical theatre writer. He has written the book, music, and lyrics for full-length musicals such as “Reporting Live”, “Caroline and George”, and “Surrounded By the Water”. Other works include music and lyrics for the one-act comedy, “The Long and Cautionary Tale of Robert Mitchum High” (Book by Sean Ireland), the ten-minute musicals “Dead Flowers” and “Constitutional the Musical!”, and “Other People’s Relationships: A Song Cycle”. He also composed original incidental music for the world premiere productions of “Ten Mile Lake” at Serenbe Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia and “Kind Souls” for Libra Theatre Company in New York.

He has had songs, concerts and full productions of his work performed at Lincoln Center, Signature Theatre, NYU, the Bowery Poetry Club, Feinstein’s/54Below, NYMF, Off-Broadway at St. Luke's, the Laurie Beechman Theater, Don’t Tell Mama, Joe’s Pub, L.A.’s Rockwell: Table & Stage, and more. He also composed the original Christmas song, “Hope is Born”, which aired nationally Christmas morning on ABC.

Michael is member of ASCAP and the Dramatist Guild and is a winner of the 2015 New Voices Project with New Musicals Inc. and Walt Disney Imagineering. Michael graduated from NYU with a B.F.A. in Drama and a Minor in Music and is originally from Boca Raton, Florida.
